For our temporary classrooms we have two large modular buildings:

Studio1 & Studio2
Studio 1
houses four large visual arts classrooms, the main office, the teachers’ lounge & work area, and the bathrooms.
Studio 2
is the performing arts wing and is home to the dance studio, theater, wind, strings, general music rooms, as well as the digital arts lab.

The studios are connected by a deck.

Fillmore West Art Show - Sunday-

Come join us and see hundreds of wonderful works of art by the students of Fillmore.

The Fillmore Arts Center is an award-winning District of Columbia Public School program providing training in dance, music, theater, visual arts, creative writing, physical education and media arts for grades k-6.

The core of Fillmore's philosophy is a belief that all children should receive a skill-based, quality arts education.

Fillmore provides an in-depth arts education program at two sites; Fillmore East and Fillmore West, to 2,000 students annually from Clark, Hearst, Hyde, Key, Mamie D. Lee, Rudolph, Raymond, Ross, Stoddert , Walker Jones, West elementary schools and Backus, and Oyster students at Oyster-Adams Middle Schools.

Fillmore also serves the greater metropolitan area through its after-school classes and summer camp at the Fillmore West site.

Did you know:

  • Younger students take an hour of visual arts and an hour of music, dance and drama each week at Fillmore. All second graders will have a hands-on experience with the violin.
  • Students in grades 3 – 5/6 choose from electives like strings, winds, digital art, dance, drama, playwriting, music theater, and sculpture.
  • Fillmore teachers are also practicing artists in their disciplines, and two of our dance teachers studied in Canada, Mexico and West Africa this summer.
  • Fillmore student work was recognized locally and nationally last year.

What an exciting time for the Fillmore program as we expand to include two sites: the new Fillmore East which serves:

  • Raymond
  • Rudolph
  • West
  • Backus 6th grd

and our existing Fillmore West which serves:

  • Hearst
  • Hyde
  • Key
  • Ross
  • Stoddert

In addition, we will be providing the arts education to the Oyster middle school students at Oyster/Adams.

We have added several new faculty members to serve the new students and are looking forward to having some joint performances.
