THINGS TO REMEMBER - THINGS TO REMEMBER
*Your child rides the bus to Fillmore. Good behavior is expected.
*All Fillmore classrooms operate under these rules:
- Follow instructions.
- Respect others and their ideas.
- Take care of the learning environment.
- Be responsible for your own ideas.
- Do your best.
* Festival Evenings are an important part of each class, and attendance is a MUST.
* Remember that visual arts can be messy. Don't dress your children in their best outfits on Fillmore days.
* Good artists are good audiences. Behavior at all performances, whether outside groups or student ensembles, is a necessary skill and is of utmost importance.
* If your child is in an after-school ensemble, regular practice and attendance at all performances is required.
* Dress for after-school ensembles at all performances is dark skirts or slacks and white blouses or shirts with ties for the boys. A uniforn appearance is an important part of a successful performance.
* Research is showing that music makes us smarter. Students of the arts continue to outperform their non-arts peers on the SATs.
* Research also shows that children do better in school when their parents show an active interest in their learning. Be a part of the Friends of Fillmore, attend open houses and performance evenings, and feel free to visit Fillmore or speak to Fillmore teachers whenever possible. Visit museums, go to concerts and plays, and sing and read with and to your children.
